The Cat Ba Central Bay tourist and commercial service area project has just started construction in Cat Ba town, Cat Hai district (Hai Phong city). The project has the goal of making Cat Ba the first carbon-free tourist island in Vietnam.
The project has an area of nearly 50 hectares, with a total investment of up to 12,495 billion VND. The project is expected to diversify tourism products, supporting services, entertainment services, shopping centers, shopping malls, and conferences to attract visitors to Cat Ba archipelago .
Located right next to the center of Cat Ba town, the project is planned with the idea of turning Cat Ba into a “little Maldives of Asia” with large-scale, quality and classy entertainment space. The focus of the project is the central square, an international standard artificial public beach, walking streets and a vibrant service chain on both sides.
Unique architectural highlights inspired by the amazing beauty of Lan Ha Bay will turn the central square into a cultural meeting point and convenient public living space for residents and tourists. The project spends more than 60% of the area developing public amenities, landscapes, and green spaces.
With the goal of making Cat Ba the first zero-carbon tourist island in Vietnam, in the near future, all island residents as well as tourists will completely use environmentally friendly means of transportation. such as cable cars, trams, and bicycles. The public electric vehicle system will be planned synchronously across the island, with stops/parking/charging stations to ensure convenience for residents and tourists. This is considered one of Vietnam’s pioneering tourism projects towards zero carbon emissions and devoting a lot of area to the community.
In addition, the project area also includes a large inland waterway wharf, allowing tourists to easily access by sea from Hai Phong City or Cat Hai cable car station.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Dang Minh Truong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sun Group said: Cat Ba Central Bay tourist and commercial service area is a comprehensive green project. Located in a space that is considered the pearl island of the North, ecological and environmentally friendly elements are consistently determined in all design ideas of the project. Throughout the project is a landscape axis of green trees and public water surface surrounding and weaving in every item, creating a green destination in the landscape, green in living amenities as well as green in infrastructure.
The project will pay special attention to wastewater and garbage treatment. This place is invested in a system to filter seawater into fresh water and a system to catch and collect rainwater and treat it to meet the fresh water needs on the island. Wastewater, including washing water and bathing water, will be filtered through many stages and chemically treated, to be reused as toilet flushing water. Waste is classified, processed into fertilizer, and used to plant trees to create landscapes. Along with that, this will also be a destination to say no to single-use plastic items.
“Greening” the use of energy, taking the environment as the center and core to focus on developing eco-friendly tourism products, linking tourism development with improving the quality of people’s lives, projecting The Cat Ba Central Bay tourist and commercial service area project will be a typical project for sustainable tourism, helping Cat Ba develop in the right direction to become a classy “green” tourist destination like other countries. The plan has been proposed.
