Tournament on a beautiful road
The first season of the VTV LPBank International Marathon called “Colors of Cat Ba Sunset 2024” will take place in Cat Ba archipelago from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on October 19. This is the first year the tournament takes place, promising to attract thousands of professional and amateur athletes from all over the world to attend.
It is expected that there will be 5,000 athletes participating in conquering the running track, at distances of 5 km, 10 km and 21 km. The total prize is 500 million VND.
With beautiful coastal routes, romantic sunsets and a vibrant atmosphere, the race will bring athletes an unforgettable experience. At the same time, the organizers hope this is an opportunity for the runner community to demonstrate the spirit of protecting natural and historical values, in the context that Cat Ba is recognized by UNESCO as a world natural heritage. Each runner will be an ambassador, promoting the image of Cat Ba to domestic and international friends.
“By co-organizing the running race, we hope to contribute to encouraging the community to participate in sports activities, improving health and quality of life. We also want to create a healthy playground where everyone shares their passion for sports, promote the beauty of Cat Ba Island, and attract tourists to Vietnam”, Mr. Hoang Van Phuc, Deputy General Director of LPBank affirmed.
Thorough organization of work
The organization of the tournament including aspects of accommodation, transportation, security, and medical care is being urgently carried out.
Mr. Bui Tuan Manh, Chairman of Cat Hai District People’s Committee (Hai Phong) shared: “We have 314 accommodation facilities, nearly 8,000 rooms (accommodating 20,000 people) that can accommodate runners and relatives. The problem with getting to the island is by ferry. We will increase the number of ferries to increase transport capacity.
The organizing committee also meets the requirements of security and order, safe traffic (roads are completely closed, no vehicles or strangers intruding), environmental protection (no dust and smoke), safety. food hygiene, Cat Ba’s medical force is also ready for the running routes.”
Ms. Tran Thi Hoang Mai, Director of Hai Phong Department of Culture and Sports emphasized: “Hai Phong has experience in organizing and hosting many domestic and international sports tournaments. For example, recently, the Phu Dong 2024 Health Festival and the national golf championship were successfully held in Hai Phong. Hai Phong people love sports passionately. Therefore, we are honored to be chosen to be the location for the first year of organizing a meaningful marathon.”
Mr. Nguyen Cao Giang, Director of the race, affirmed that the race will bring its own unique attraction to runners coming to Hai Phong.
“In the first time it is organized, with the attraction of Cat Ba island and the companionship of sponsors, we hope the race will have many unique and attractive features for athletes,” Mr. Giang said.
